How Do We Understand This Thing?
Understanding the Bible can be a challenge, and wrestling with the Bible’s authority for our lives can be as well.  For the first part of the fall semester, the Bible Study class will be examining these two issues.  We’ll look at different ways of understanding and applying Scripture’s authority as well as a variety of ways of interpreting and understanding the texts.  The class will focus particularly on the Gospels, looking at their history and interpretation as individual books and as a collection. This class meets in the Conference Room.

Thanksgiving: History, Myth and Faith
During the month of November, the Parks Wilson Sunday School Class will be looking at Thanksgiving.  We’ll look at the origins of the holiday, both mythic and historical, as well as the uneasy relationship between faith and civil religion implicit in the holiday.  The class will close with a discussion of the very important role of giving thanks in our spiritual lives today.
